The older version of
this site which was artful and appealing for a time
has been taken down to prepare for a new
phase in what I want to do with activeCommunity.
One of my
primary clients,
LimelightMusic.com will be launching
soon and this site will be updated after it's launch, with a new interface
for activeCommunity to follow shortly after.
.BIZ Tools™ 1.0 is being offered in Version 2.0 now
also, as it was developed previously over a period
of time when
the focus
was on ease of use for clients who need to update their
product catalogs without complicated editing software, some of which is nearly impossible for
even intermediate users to edit eCommerce websites with,
especially when it came to a Flash site.
The biggest successes of .BIZ Tools 1.0 were
TheChipRoom.com in the management of it's lucrative
product catalog and
MexicoCaribbean.Net in the management of it's
property lots off Costa Maya in Mexico. I expect
TheChipRoom.com to go on being successful as it has shown no signs of
slowing down.
MexicoCaribbean.Net has
been updated with a muti-lingual interface. Both
clients can attest to the quality of the workmanship
of activeCommunity.
.BIZ Tools 2.0, is being
built with scalability for future growth of our
clients by using peer XML Web Services and
contingency plans in place for
spikes in growth. Version 1.0 was built using several imaging components,
programming of XML structures and feeds, and PayPal IPN. Version 2.0 has
been built with additional components, including those
found in
Authorize.Net, licensed SDKs, the Flash ActionScript Framework
& soon the ILOG Elixir scientific & 3D graphic modules
for FLEX 3.0
Something worthy of note, is
LimelightMusic.com.
They
specialize in the highest
quality Taylor, Gibson and Fender guitars and amps.
It is a beautiful music store that integrates with the
community well; providing lessons
for kids from local schools, a small friendly staff.
It's a pleasure to see the kids walk in and out of the store
on some days
—
little Mozarts in the making. This is the way
a real store front should be (what they call a brick and
mortar store), and I doubt any web store-front
can replace that. Instead, a store like Limelight
Music, can compliment it's local sales with an easy to use
eCommerce solution, and CART Web Service is that
solution.
Other sites we
manage, such as
AudioInfusion.com, are also benefitting from our CONTENT
Web Service to provide Updates on its home page when
necessary. CONTENT Web Service does a lot more
than just update content, however. CONTENT Web Service is
being integrated with Robert Thompson's SmartFolders™
technology (formerly under Object Productivity, Inc.
where he had invented SmartFolders long before other
companies began using the name) to include advanced
IT workflow and Business Process modeling with XML
Schema support.
In this business of ours,
Quality is Paramount!
As Steve Jobs of Apple says of some competetors like
Microsoft, "I don't have a problem with their
success, but I have a real problem with the poor
quality of the software they produce."
That's why activeCommunity is very selective
about the clients we choose to service and why we have
a process in-place, based on principle that allows our clients
to first describe the functionality
they want, and then quickly determine the look and
feel they want, and complete work items in an "agile" way
with the real data they will use when the site
launches (one of the worst errors a web programmer
can make is to work with transient data; one must
work with the real data that will be used on site
launch for it to work in the real world wide
web).
As the great innovators at
RED.com say, "We reserve the right to refuse
service to anyone with a bad attitude" LOL. We spell this
out very clearly in our Terms of Service and
Contracts: dishonesty and frenzied pushy people who
do not cooperate in helping us help themselves, is
not tolerated here. But Quality is very much
encouraged. We are in the New Media business
to produce quality solutions & dramatic productions.
